School Officer Plan Could Get State Funding
Fort Walton Beach Police Chief John Vesey favors a school resource officer program but urges delaying now. He cites upcoming training in June in Orlando and two state bills proposing funding and expansion of officer programs. The cost is about 16000 dollars annually, shared by the city and school district, with extra for insurance. Vesey cites success in Gulf Breeze Pensacola and Panama City as why Okaloosa should move forward.
