Water Plan Gets Air Force OK
Vanita Trippe reports a plan to use well fields on Eglin Air Force Base to supply the Destin South Walton peninsula has been tentatively approved by base officials though the base rejected the original site proposed by the Northwest Florida Water Management District. NWFWMD official Bill McCartney notes the plan remains undecided with no definitive approval and mentions the proposed area lies between bombing ranges, making it unacceptable to Eglin. Col. Bill Campbell says discussions may occur about alternate sites while stressing the original location was too near a bombing range.
