Destin Educator Updates On School Growth and Reform
Sullivan told parents and teachers Destin faces limited numbers for a junior high, with 233 local junior high students and 199 Destin students at Fort Walton Beach High School. He urged data review but warned 233 students isn’t enough to build a junior high. He pressed building elementary capacity over the next years and cautioned against eliminating portable classrooms. He warned Proposition One tax rollback could complicate funding. New reform requires grades 9 10 to adopt seven period days in 1985, increasing academic load and needing broad commitment.
