Wells to Monitor Impact on Harbor in Destin
NWFWMD official Don Esty says Destin Water Users may be a major pollution contributor to Old Pass Lagoon. Four wells on county easements and ten more on private property will be drilled to map ground water flow and detect effluent movement toward Destin Harbor. Nutrients from effluent, septic tanks, and runoff may have caused algae blooms and a big fish kill in 1982.
