Planning Commission to discuss sign ordinance in Destin
Planning Commission meets Thursday at 7 p.m. in City Hall with a workshop to refine a proposed sign ordinance for Destin. Walton County School Board planned a special session Tuesday night to hire an engineer for the Freeport Elementary School sewage plant and consider a district architect contract. Superintendent DeShazo said a Pensacola firm would present on the project. The board had earlier dismissed engineer Wayne Tisdale for delays and poor communication.

Difficult year for Walton utility as 1987 work on CR 30A planned
South Walton developers call the year difficult due to the John Smith Utility System takeover in Seagrove Beach and a drought that stressed an already inadequate system. The $5.775 million bond plan and addition of Sandestin were blocked briefly by legal challenges. Completion along County Road 30 A is promised next year, with growth tied to Development Group plans and a public hearing in January.
