Okaloosa Island Annexation Drive Targets Fort Walton Beach
A group of about 35 island business owners seek to annex the south side of Santa Rosa Boulevard and adjacent areas into Fort Walton Beach. They argue annexation would boost police protection, maintenance, and tourism, while excluding residential leaseholders from Okaloosa County. The group hired the law firm Dewrell Blue and Brannon and has raised about $8,000 for legal fees and plans to meet county commissioners August 20.
