Destin Panel Recommends Composite Zoning Hearings

Destin planning panel discussed methods to hold public hearings on revisions to five county maps for the Destin peninsula. Chairman Collier Houston urged a composite, area wide approach with mass mailouts to property owners within 300 feet of rezoning sites, noting hearings could span over a year if done per area. Members Bert Young and Margaret Watson supported the plan.

Cable Firm Aims to Refine Okaloosa Expansion Plan

Warner Amex Cable general manager Pete Peden says Indian Bayou subdivision is under renewed review for service feasibility after earlier plans to extend to the area stalled in 1982. He notes countywide expansion includes 20 miles of cable, Sandestin West integration, and ongoing upgrades with channels 3 5 1 and WSRE license approval anticipated. Rate increases are expected by late 1983 though specific amounts are not yet set.
