Sludge flood hits West Florida Engine area in Destin
A digested sludge spill from Destin Water Users sludge beds flooded the Industrial Park off Airport Road. Water and muck reached the building interior and vehicles outside, forcing work stoppages. DWU says a valve failed to close fully and stresses the material is not raw sewage. DWU plans a ditch along the property line to contain future spills.

Taps moratorium complicates DWU connection plan
DWU officials say 1,663 taps may be used before state approval for a discharge plan to boost treatment capacity. Henderson may sell taps to others, but transfers between properties are unlikely. Priority on returns will shape who gets taps first, and developers warn taps are highly valued as the shortage grows.
