Monster Bass Caught at Hurricane Lake in Okaloosa County

Local fisherman Robert Earl Dunsford of Jay caught a 17 pound 9 ounce largemouth at Hurricane Lake on March 19 while fishing solo. He also landed a 9 pound 8 ounce bass. Mark Sasser of Milton previously bagged a 15 pound 12 ounce bass there on February 23. The 350 acre lake, built in 1971, floods a creek bottom and now shows snags and treetops. Dunsford’s catch is near the state record but not equal.
