Telegraphic dispatch from Aug 1 reports a mob of men women and children pelting rails on Cherry Street during Chicago & Pacific Road work. Stones bricks and abuse were used to stop the crew. Police protected the site, a larger force moved in and several ring leaders were arrested.
In Atlanta the Democratic convention discussed nominating Charles O Connor of New York for vice president with A L Stephens. O Connor would not commit without a large influential convention. Branton Duncan’s Trinity affair cited. prospects of a walkout by the convention’s delegates noted.
Aug 15 reports from Toutsvinin describe Robert Atwood of AL SelaMer & Co. accused of issuing forged checks totaling $150,000 through drafts on National Park Bank and Nations Bank. Names of several banks and parties connected to the scheme surface as investigation continues in Seymour, with Atwood linked to Union Insurance Co. and Rev. Gilbert Robinson’s church.

Pittsburgh Aug 15 The Pittsburg creditors of Fie Vros whose failure was announced yesterday held a morning meeting to decide unanimously to await the trim for payments.
