W H Rothwell of Boston representing the Rothwell estate announced remodeling plans for the Seeley Howe Le Van building at Sixth and Walnut streets in Des Moines. The building will be converted into a single business space with a wide first floor front and a lowered floor, costing about 11000, with potential tenants for the entire building. H S Chase & Co will vacate the grocery area as work begins immediately. The Marshall Elevator Company was also formed in Des Moines with 50 000 authorized capital, 20000 paid in, to operate yards and plant at Marshalltown while headquartered in Des Moines.

Major Lakes Shipping Deal Hits Eleven Steamers
June 28 report that the American Shipbuilding company closed one of the largest lake shipping deals, booking eleven freight steamers worth about two million dollars. Contracts for ten vessels were arranged by A B Wolvin of Duluth, president of the firm intending a grain and package freight line down the St Lawrence to Quebec.
