Iowa General Assembly debates school lands and local bills
In the 1870 afternoon session Murdock urges stopping school land sales until a statewide law is enacted to protect the School Fund, while Traer wants time to study. Numerous bills are introduced on taxation, threshing machine safety, juror drawing, county terms, and various amendments. A joint resolution ratifying the Fifteenth Amendment is sent for committee review.
