A great patriotic meet ing is planned for next Sunday at the Dermott High School auditorium starting at 7:30 PM. Special community singing will feature songs sung by soldiers, and a top state speaker will deliver a patriotic address. Everyone is invited to participate as victory for American forces approaches.
The Lyceum presents a program featuring Schubert Sextet on Wednesday, Nov 0th, followed by Zedlers returning after a popular first appearance, and the Welsh Glee Quartet closing. Separate tickets are available for each event at 25c for adults and 10c for children. season passes cover all three with higher prices.
The United War Work Drive shows rising interest as quotas are urged to be exceeded. District Secretary and County Chairman visit Lake Village and Rudera, reporting strong enthusiasm and a likely oversubscription of at least 20 percent on the first day. A demonstration was planned for the opening days of the campaign with further activities anticipated in the area.
A county meeting in the school auditorium organized the Victory Boys and Girls drives under United War Campaign leadership. County chairmen from Chicot and neighboring counties attended with district leaders Sen John Carter and Mrs J R Wilson guiding the effort. The session, chaired by Geo W Lewis, outlined quotas for boys and girls and urged earnings and contributions in a triethy movement.
