Closing session of the Tri-County School Institute at the Presbyterian Church voted to continue the Chicot County School Association with officers J. W. Barnett Lee as President and Mrs. J. A. Bennett as Treasurer. Talks by Mrs. W. K. Ferguson Little Rock and Mrs. Mzle Dermott plus earnest singing by Bussey synthems added to the program as delegates from Tillar Dumas Lake Village Eudora Monticello and Wilmar attended.
The Current Tape Club hosted a Halloween Carnival in Crenshaw building’s corner room with elaborate décor and eerie lighting. Activities included a staged missing-person search ending with a headless reveal, followed by ice cream, cake, and a “Tittle devil” dance ticket later at Hotel Dermott ballroom into the early morning.
The Presbyterian Ladies Aid Society met in the Tres in Church on Monday afternoon with about thirty three members present. Mr Haney spoke urging financial aid to install doors between the main church and Sunday School area to benefit teachers and children. A motion to raise funds before installing doors was made. A proposal to form a branch aid society for young women, under the original society, drew mixed opinions due to small membership but offered potential for more work and new members. A committee will report next Monday. The meeting was described as lively and continues each Monday afternoon.
