Dermott Approves 12 Mill Tax in School Election
Dermott held an annual school election with 208 votes. C R Bates won a West Dermott annex seat with 134 votes to 63 for H Gaster, G A Franklin won in Dermott proper with heavy support, a 12 mill tax passed by a large margin, while politics influenced some voters. Dr E E Barlow retires from the board after eleven years of service. Bates replaces Bert Nixon who resigned months ago after moving from the West Dermott annex.

Pushing Road Work Under County Judge Toney
County Judge Toney pushes road improvements across the county with Prestridge and Collins using a new tractor and grader to shape a six mile west of Eudora and the Lake Village to Eudora road. The Lake Village Dermott road should open around June 10. Bridges are promised by August 1 under bond, with hot follow up on contractor progress for the Kelley bridge and northern county connections.
