Negroes fined after train air shift causes wrecks in Dermott yards
An afternoon incident in Dermott railroad yards saw three cars wrecked when men riding a through freight pulled the air and stopped the train. The three principals were caught by Marshal Parrish, tried by Squire Johnson, fined $100 each plus coats, then sent to the county farm for nonpayment. Authorities credit swift justice and warn of similar rides endangering life.
