Dermott prepares to host the National Editorial Association, a major event drawing editors from 20,000 newspapers nationwide. A large volunteer committee lines up arrangements, transport, hospitality, and a picnic luncheon, with a 2 to 12 schedule and train timing to ensure a smooth visit.

The Auto Committee plans a special train trip for car owners next Tuesday if no volunteers step forward. All households with a car are asked to meet the NEA special train, escort editors on a brief drive and then proceed to a dinner.
The second annual inter denominational Unicot County Sunday School Convention is planned for Dermott Thursday and Friday. Sessions move to the Presbyterian Church due to Red Cross use of the hotel, with key officials and pastors listed and all Sunday schools urged to send delegates.
Rev and Mrs N Smy lie Wan hosted a warm family reunion last week. Their daughter Miss Janye Smylie returned from Grundy Virginia where she taught at the Presbyterian school. Mrs Smylie's mother Mrs J M Shaw of Shelby Mississippi joined for the summer. Lieut Theo S Smylie of the US Army, recently at Camp Zachary Taylor near Louisville, visited for a week. He has been commissioned for work in France and expects to sail soon. Lieutenant Smylie preached Sunday night at the Presbyterian church to an attentive audience.
