A Sunday night break in at the Dermott News Office left the desk in disorder and a Colts revolver and a razor missing. Marshal Parrish recovered the gun from a negro delivery boy and traced the razor, praised for prompt detection and resolve in pursuing the thief.
Public warned against hysteria as government regulates flour and sugar to avoid famine. Each person allotted three pounds of flour monthly and six pounds of white flour. canners may obtain sugar with a signed slip and a permit from the local food administrator if needed. E R Wiles, Chairman, orders public eating with beef served at least once weekly. The noon meal 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. is the only time beef may be served, as set by Mr Williams for state approval. Hamburger may be served any time only if made from beef by products, not from choice steaks except at the noon meal.
