New Highway of Military Value

The Arkansas Louisiana Highway District prospectus shows War Department engineers backing permission to take gravel and sand from the Mississippi River for concrete work. The road would connect Alexandria and Little Rock, aiding military operations and transport to the Gulf and Mississippi River. The full prospectus will appear next week.

Levee Board Meeting in Arkansas City Approves Contract

Southeast Arkansas Levee Board met Tuesday with President Co War field and Secretary H Thane among attendees. They awarded a contract to Contractor Clark for 150000 cubic yards of levee on the Arkansas River and the 10000 acre South Bend Plantation donated by Governor Lowden. The board also authorized sale of 50000 in bonds, its first issue.
