Dermott notices report visits by H N Boulden and families in Arkansas City McGehee and Monticello. Election business and bank hires unfold. church events, school hires, and a sale notice mix with travels to Par nell Springs and Decatur Illinois. A prolonged Thursday baseball game between Warren and Dermott stretched to sixteen innings with an exhausted score. On Friday Dermott revived the crowd by an easy victory, the Dermott team winning by a decisive margin. Several Dermott supporters traveled to Warren by car while others rode the train, with five autos joining the journey.
A early Friday blaze in Dermott's business district engulfed the rear of the Kimpel house and spread to Clarke and Clark store, Dermott News machinery, and the Kim pel home. Losses top $15 000 with insurance about $12 000 for Kimpel holdings and $6 000 for Clarke and Clark. The Crenshaw and Stinson properties suffered heavy damage, while others in the block reported varying losses. The Kimpels, away in Denver, plan to return to rebuild with modern bricks.
The Rook Club gathered Thursday afternoon at the Parnell residence hosted by Mrs C L Dishough. Sixteen tables were set for five games with Mrs R Gillham achieving the high score. Refreshments of angel food cake and banana split followed, and names of attendees include Lowery Daniels Hoffman Hanchey Rfh Gillham Lishough Kennedy Prothro Stinson Bordeaux Johnson Seph Davis and Barlow as they plan another meeting with Mrs J Kennedy.
An ordinance of the City of Dermott Arkansas makes it unlawful for hogs or pigs to run at large. Any person allowing such activity is guilty of a misdemeanor and may be fined up to ten dollars.
