Auto Crash at Parkdale Claims Four Lives
Four dead after an Overland driven by Miss Daisy Caldwell was struck by train No. 105 near Parkdale. Mrs Lem Caldwell, Oliver Caldwell, and Lola Lawren died. Lawrence Wolfe died later. Good Roads Meeting Promotes Arkansas Highway Plan
Nine teen delegates from Southeastern Arkansas attended the Eureka Springs gathering and promoted county advertising. Judge E P Toney and Mayor Snell led speeches while Chicot county earned broad recognition. A Central Road District Association was formed with Ben Griffin as president and Joe House Jr as secretary. County judges became district directors to push completion. Boone Pope Newton Carroll and others north of Little Rock pledged to build Eureka Springs to Little Rock. Arkansas-Louisiana Highway would extend Grady to the Louisiana line with Louisiana delegates agreeing to continue. The State Highway Department assisted the effort.
