Local and Personal notes record Dermott Clean-Up Day slated for April 16. Din of community updates includes Democratic and church events, a candidate visit, and social announcements.
A large crowd gathered in Dermott for a Loyalty Day event with a parade of 400 schoolchildren, patriotic music, and speeches from local leaders and soldiers. Company K of the Arkansas National Guard prepared to entrain for Fort Logan H. Roots, while both white and colored attendees listened, sang, and showed unity in support of the flag.

Sergeant N F tynum and officers of Company K led a strong recruitment after the call to colors. Enlistment totaled 114, including members and recruits set to join in Little Rock, departing Dermott Monday night, believed the largest in the state to that time.
Ernest Kerr died after taking two tablets believed to be aspirin but were bichloride. He fell ill with a headache, lingered until Tuesday, and was buried at Holly Grove. His wife Estelle Kerr, daughter of townsman Wo J Raboma, mourns with relatives Swain Parrish and others.
S F Hornor announces candidacy for Chicot County assessor. Born and raised in the county, he served as county surveyor for 14 years and has prepared two county assessments for other assessors. If elected, he will devote his best efforts to the office and asks for support in the May 12 special election.
The Dermott City Council designates Monday April 16 as Clean-Up Day urging residents to clear premises by then. On April 17 city teams will haul away tin cans and trash in barrels or boxes from alleys and streets where no alleys exist, with full resident cooperation requested.
L L Davis announces sale of his cleaning and pressing business to W M Wilks who will operate at the old stand. Davis will continue making Davis Made Clothes and move to the Chicot Hotel building after this week.
