The M. E. Church invites the public to Sunday School at 9:30 a.m. with Cheston Long making a sermon at 10:30 a.m. Epworth League meets at 7:00 p.m. followed by an 8:00 p.m. preaching session. Alvin F. White is the pastor.
Next Sunday schedule includes Sunday School at 9 30 a m and B Y P U at 7 p m with Miss Jettie Harper leading Sunday evening session. Teacher's Training is Wednesday evening at 8 15.
Bible Study at 9 30 am led by Omer Flora superintendent. Choir rehearsal Thursday evening led by Miss Rebecca Eikenberry. Everyone invited to all services.
Mrs. E Ss Waymire writes from Camp Dodge that Dr Waymire, commanding officer of a Field Hospital of the 19th Sanitary Train, sends a splendid consignment and praises the camp and surrounding country. Denver friends welcome the news of the Waymires.
The Fahl family held its first reunion at City Park in Peru Indiana on September 14 with a noon picnic. Attendees included Emiel and Bertha Fahl families from Wabash and Peru plus members from Denver Twelve Mile Huntington and nearby areas. several relatives could not attend.
Martha Agnes Pyle, 18, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs Charles Pyle of 522 East Fifth Peru, died Monday at 5 am after a two week typhoid illness. Funeral Wednesday 2:30 pm at Brethren church Main and Clay, interment Mount Hope. Rev G C Carpenter officiated. Survived by sister Mrs Harry Edson. family formerly lived in Denver.
The Woman's Baptist Missionary Society met at the parsonage on September 11 and elected officers for the coming year. Mary Melton is President, Maggie Cunningham Vice President, Flora Benedict Secretary, Anna Whistler Assistant Secretary, Myrtle Ramantrout Treasurer. Committees include Lizzie Tharp Flower, Lizzie Murphy Emma Zook Work, Anna Whistler Mary Baker Mary Bell Time and Place, Maggie Cunningham Reporter. The Leader will be appointed for each meeting by the President.

Miss Alma Dukes relocates from Denver to Germantown Ohio to take a high school teaching position. She spent the summer months in Bowling Green Kentucky for study and is described as well qualified for the post.
Private Forest H. Ritter of the 49th Regiment Battery F 3rd Section writes from Camp Eustis Virginia detailing travel from Fort Thomas to Rhode Island and later movements to Camp Huston and Eustis. He notes crossings by rail, Red Cross aid, training, gas masks, drills, food, billets, Y M C A activities, and plans for overseas service amid reports of large camps and diverse troops.

Public schools in Jefferson township opened Monday morning and began the year’s work. Trustees report difficulty securing all teachers but are hopeful the full staff will be in place soon. Former teachers have returned to classrooms and a full list of teachers and buildings will follow.
Mr and Mrs John Donaldson announce the birth of their daughter Norma Louise on Thursday September 12. This is the family's fourth child and first daughter, described with joy by relatives.
