Night Air Mail to Cut Coast-to-Coast Time

Second Assistant Postmaster General Paul Henderson outlined plans for a coast to coast twenty eight hour air mail service within a year. Night flights, starting with Detroit to Chicago in October, would use Chicago’s illuminated field to guide landings. An overnight Chicago to Cheyenne leg would enable 800 pound mail payloads to reach San Francisco the next day.
