Fort Wayne Dedication Marked by Roosevelt News Delay

A Fort Wayne dedication event for the Allen County Court House was interrupted by a telegram announcing President Roosevelt’s illness and inability to visit. The ceremony featured W. Bourke Cockran and others, with plans for an address canceled and the crowd offered prayers for the President’s quick recovery.

Enraged Elephant Rampages at Vincennes Show

A large elephant at the Bostock-Ferers exhibit in Vincennes went on a destructive rampage injuring a woman and bruising a child, tearing a dwelling, and forcing the show to flee. A separate incident left Homer Berger fatally wounded near Lewis after a crowd fired into the dark. he claimed knowledge of his shooter but recanted. An engineer thwarted an attempted rail wreck near Newport, and a collision between an electric car and a freight train injured over twenty people at the Soldiers’ Home area.
