Taken Away to Hospital for Medical Treatment

The article states Joe Kessler could not receive needed care and papers were prepared for admission. On Friday he was taken to Longcliff Hospital for treatment with his brother George Miller and Jess Miller accompanying, driven by I. C. Brower. It is hoped he will recover enough for an Indianapolis operation.

Soldier Harold Friend Detained for Furlough Overstay

Detectives took Harold Friend into custody Monday evening in Denver on a charge of overstaying his army furlough. He enlisted in Ohio and grew ill in the south, given a thirty day pass, then failed to report. He and his officer left Denver on the evening train.

Republicans Plan Big Rally in Denver on October 2

The Miami county Republicans announce a large rally next Friday October 2 in Denver. About fifty cars with a large crowd will arrive around 12 30 p m with prominent speakers a drum corps and a Quarteté. Attendees are promised lunch and a lively gathering.

Freak Cabbage Heads From Two Stalks Baffle Local Growers

P. S. Sullivan brings two exceptionally large heads of cabbage to the office. One stalk produced seven heads and the other three, all solid and averaging about 14 pounds each. He says the patch yielded ten barrels of kraut with more potential, noting the rarity of an entire patch producing a second crop of solid, high quality heads.
