House Fire Destroys Luckenbill Home on Washington Street

The Luckenbill residence on Washington Street suffered heavy damage after a Tuesday morning fire started from a defective flue. Firefighters arrived quickly, both engines fought the blaze, and the roof and upper rooms suffered water and structural damage while the house was saved from total loss.

Miss Martha Pyle hosted a Saturday evening Halloween party for many friends. Eighteen masqueraders attended and enjoyed fortune telling at the den of the Witch and Wizard. Parcel Post Social Draws Crowd at Baptist Society Event

The Baptist Missionary Society held a Tuesday evening Parcel Post Social with a large turnout and amused attendees when parcels were opened. Refreshments circulated as $10.55 was raised for the society funds. Mrs. Bert Goff won the smelling contest prize. The committee thanks the public for support and patronage.

Jefferson township schools except No 9 closed for two days as teachers attended the State Teachers Association in Indianapolis. About ten thousand educators gathered with speakers addressing various aspects of teaching. President Wilson was not present.
