Surprise Wedding Binds Brower and Rose Wilson

The quiet ceremony united 10 Brower and Miss Rose Wilson of Chili on a Tuesday. The groom, vice president of the Farmer's Bank in Idneyer, will relocate with his bride to Denver. Congratulations flow from their friends.

Two More Passenger Trains Planned on Butler Division

Officials from Vandalla Railroad announced after an inspection trip that starting about November 7 two additional passenger trains would operate on the Butler division. One would run westward around ten in the morning and the other eastward around five in the evening. Locals have proven satisfactory and the company will add trains until motor car completion.

Ladies Aid Social at M B Church Hosted by Milli kan Family

At the home of Mrs. J H Millikan the following ladies Mexdames Carson Dukes Lilley Brown and Millikan will entertain the Ladies Aid Society of the M B church at a social gathering on Wednesday November 10 at two o clock p m Each member will invite one lady friend for reels work and a gens.

Miss Flora Shafer was absent for three days due to sickness. Mr. Waggoner gave curtain lectures in the library this week and several pupils visited at her request. Irene Simona Carl ie Fisher Bessie Pyle and Mary Titus of Mexico visited last week. Earl McCoy ran the principal's room for a while Friday. Examinations are expected next week. The fire drill improves with practice. the building cleared in one minute. Dee Fouts brought good apples. Alma Dukes sampled a couple. In algebra x equaled minus two. Some 7th and 8th year boys cleaned the yard after Halloween. Dee Fonts remains in the building often.

Hallowe'en Party at Mr and Mrs Derek Home

A delightful Halowe'en gathering at the home of Mr and Mrs BF DerekSaturday evening hosted by their daughter Audna Derek with assistance from Mrs LH Dice and Misses Olivia Smith Myrtle Dukes Golden Newell Goldie Fouts Nellie Garritson. Attendees included Chi Waggoner N B Hunt 2 H Dice Cody Friend and Roland Place. Music by the Garrison and Fouts girls and fortune telling provided humor. A late supper of oysters celery pickles salad and coffee served. decor featured jack o lanterns black cats bats witches and candles. Guests departed noting a memorable evening.

Flood Floods Peru Mercantile Basement After Burst Pipe

Water surged through the basement of the Peru Mercantile Co around noon Monday after a burst pipe. Workers were engaged cleaning and assessing damage as the floor flooded.

Fire at Corner Grocery Sparks Window Lantern Blaze

A small fire broke out Saturday at WE Howes Corner Grocery when a Japanese lantern ignited window decorations. The flames spread to dry sands and cotton on shelves but were quickly tackled by Mr. Howes and nearby customers, saving the store from burning.

Railroad removes shovel from Denver gravel spit

The L L E W Railroad last Thursday moved the steam shovel away from the Denver gravel spit amid trouble as the engine jumped the track. The shovel is now digging the banks of the Hiner cut north of Peru to supply dirt for new freight yards north of town. BH Mikesell, a popular blacksmith, has been ill for several days.

Lane family trip update to Tennessee visit

In a prior note it was said George Lane and family left for Tennessee but they were only visiting Nias Tee Co. They plan to depart for Tennessee the first of next week.

Miss Bessie Shafer and James Staller wed at the Baptist church in Denver with Rev. J Rake officiating. The ceremony featured bridesmaids and a best man, followed by a reception at the bride’s home. The couple, long part of the community, now reside in south Denver and received many gifts from attending guests.
