Wreck on the Lake Erie Switch Opens and Delays Rally

Last Monday evening the mixed train No 25 from the north derailed on an open switch entering Macy. The engine and fireman jumped to safety, no injuries occurred. One flat car and the engine suffered damage but track was cleared. a Peru wreck train assisted. A rally at Macy was postponed. Investigators will probe the switch's open condition.

Geo Eikenberry Pioneer Passes Away in Manchester Area

Geo Eikenberry a longtime Miami County resident and respected leader in the Jef? aship community passed away Monday evening at about age. His funeral will be held Thursday at 10:30 with Elder Gorman B. Heeter officiating in North Manchester. Interment will follow in nearby cemetery. A special Wabash Railroad train will run from Denver to Logansport for the Republican Rally and Clam Bake next Saturday, leaving Denver at 8:48 am and returning from Logansport at 10:30 pm, one fare round trip.

The Republican Rally Delights Gilead Town

The Republican rally Saturday drew a large crowd with flags bunting and parade. Macy band led by citizens provided music while Gilead and Denver Rough Riders joined a lively afternoon parade. Hon M S Baldwin of Noblesville spoke to attentive listeners. Evening crowds thronged Payson street for further speeches by Nott N Antrim and Wm FB Stevens and a final round of social visits. The event closed with broad community celebration and approval of McKinley’s prospects.
