Brusher in Well Paid Job at City Hotel

A charity case claimed her son could help her by working as a brusher in a major hotel. The son, known as Ye the drughoer, is said to run the bootblack chair and make 30 to 40 dollars weekly in tips, though no official salary exists. An agent found him employed in a large hotel for six years, with the brusher role valued at about 30 dollars a week. Patrons tipped well, and the brusher would seat customers when chairs were full and distribute papers.
