The 17 year locust invasion will sweep 21 states in late May. Farmers are advised to cover young fruit trees with cheesecloth to prevent egg laying, or postpone planting until 1920 if feasible, and prune damaged wood after the insects disappear.

Peru man to build modern basket factory downtown

W. C. Redman of Peru has bought the land on South Emmons Street east of the L. E. W. right of way and south of Mrs. Catharine Sunday’s home. He plans a large two story factory that will be as fire proof as possible and centralize his Denver operations with improved shipping. The plant will increase employment from forty to fifty now to a larger number once space is added.

Extremely cold weather has severely damaged fruit crops across Indiana with cherries plums and peaches hit hardest. Small fruits gooseberries and currants are practically killed as a result of the late warm spell followed by frost.

Mrs A L Fouts Undergoes Operation In Indianapolis

On Wednesday last, Mrs A L Fouts with her husband and daughter Mrs Omer Flora and attending Dr EB Waymire left Denver for Indianapolis. On Thursday at ten o clock she underwent an operation at Methodist hospital performed by Dr Hatfield. She rallied well and is expected to recover fully if no complications arise. Mr Fouts returned from Indianapolis Sunday evening.

The Young People’s meeting led by Rollin Place is announced for next Sunday evening. Mrs. Bernice Murphy led a splendid meeting last Sunday. The first lesson in the new Teacher Training book begins Wednesday. The Teaching Values of the Old Testament is the title. All are welcome to attend.
