Vandalia Introduces Two Through Trains to St Louis and Toledo

Beginning June 1 Vandalia started running two through fast trains between St Louis and Toledo passing Denver around midnight. Sunday evening guests included Grandma Armantrout Mrs Ann Earnest and Mrs George Smith and her daughter Pearl at the home of Mr and Mrs A L Davis.

Quarterly Conference Report at M. E. Church

The Quarterly Conference met at the M. E. Church at 9:30 led by Rev. Hollopeter D D. No Chili reps but all reports filed. Pastors salary listed Bishop 15 Dist Supt 74 Pastor 850 Parsonage 150 with Denver 450 Chili 271 Ebenezer 218. Denver due 112.50 paid 115 Ebenezer due 54.50 paid 39 Chili due 67.75 to be paid. A Boicourt elected Steward for Chili resigned. Ed Woolpert and Howard Flora confirmed as class leaders and conference members. Parsonage improvements approved painting barn and house. Hollopeter left for Green Oak to preside at 2 PM conference with C C Robbins. He made a favorable impression.

Fourth of July Picnic Planned at Whittmore's Grove

The Committee announces a Whittmore's Grove celebration with a 9 00 a m Grand Parade led by a band. Prizes for floats autos rigs couples and costumes, 9 30 musical program, 10 30 speaking, afternoon contests games races base ball and pigeon shoot all day, home talent music and band concert in town square.
