Denver Youth Guilty of Forgery at Circuit Court
John Hoover a seventeen year old Denver boy pleaded guilty in circuit court to forging a check on Peru Trust Co with Mrs Martha Millers name. Judge Ward fined him ten dollars plus costs and sentenced four months on the penal farm. Hoover said he spent most of the money on whiskey and led officers to Mrs Eva Gehrings West Canal Street home where liquor was seized. Gehring was arrested for illegal liquor possession.

Surprise visit honors Homer Ward at Denver Brethren class
A surprise was given to Homer Ward on a Wednesday evening by the Samaritan class of the Denver Brethren Sunday School. Ward, the teacher, had returned home and begun milking when the crowd entered. Mrs. John Turnipseed, born and raised near Mexico, died Monday at 10:00 at her Gas City home after a week long illness caused by valvular heart trouble. Survived by husband John Turnipseed two brothers Arthur Dillman of Kansas and Frank Dillman of Providence R I and sister Mrs Jane Fisher of Peru.
