Ernest Workman manager of the Alt Heidelberg hotel is fatally hurt and Frank Ross, Fred Clemens, Miss Stella Hoffman, Miss Fern Davis, and Miss Agnes Mannock were seriously injured when their automobile skidded on Leo road three and a half miles north of Fort Wayne, crashed into a ditch and tore down a rail fence. Workman clung to the wheel and was pitched against the fence. a wood splinter pierced his chest, threatening death. The party had spent the evening at Robison park and were returning home. The driver is suspected to have been speeding. several autos arrived soon after to assist. Workman and Miss Mannock remained at St Joseph’s hospital, Clemens and Miss Hoffman at Hope hospital, Ross and Miss Davis went home. An operation may be attempted for Workman if he rallies.
