The Brethan Church lists Bible School at 9 30, Junior Endeavor at 2 30, Advanced Bible Class Tuesday at 8, Choir Friday at 8, and Union Class at Deedsville Friday at 8. A baptismal service occurred last Sunday at the creek west of town. Pastor L G Wood notes progress in the Advanced Bible Training Class and Union Class as they prepare for examinations.

Rural Route 23 Rufus Fisher area reports wives and daughters Martha and Velma in Peru and Rochester visits. Mrs Carrie Runkle and Velma in Rochester last Friday. Nona Sullivan stayed with her mother Mrs Danes in Peru last week. Verna Robinson and children of Twelve Mile visited J L Dewald and wife. Benton Huffman and daughter and her husband visited P S Sullivan and wife Wednesday. Lydia Zimmerman of Peru visited Mrs Sarah Berger and Ola Newbold late last week. Anson family of Wabash spent Sunday with Joe Dillman and wife.
Plans are advancing for Peru Market Days in Peru from July 29 to August 14, a fifteen day event featuring bargains. Organizers promote ads in the Tristan and county papers and have distributed notices. Auto tours to main towns aim to attract thousands seeking relief from high living costs.
The summer course of entertainments announces a stereopticon lecture titled The Child Life of the World on August 18. It studies the child’s life across countries, detailing clothing, food, dwelling, play, school, work, and religious training. Single admissions are 10 or 15 cents. season tickets cost 25 cents. L. G. Edmond Stowman and a sizable group from Glendale and Peru enjoyed a Sunday dinner at the Judson Long home northeast of Denver. Guests included Smiths, Howes, Guyer and two daughters Fern and Zora, Effie Moody and Roy Marley with families, plus a large supply of homemade ice cream.
The Methodist church Friday night staged In His Steps from Rev. Charles Sheldon. The Peru U B church young people's society presented it with strong acting led by Virginia Page Madam Page Edward Norman and Rollin Page. The play offered a moral lesson and was well received.
The report notes Denver beat Mexico 20 to 8 at the end of the game but questions fairness and refereeing. It mentions rag weed pastures and a coach or manager, with references to the Denver boys and Peru Reserves upcoming next Sunday.

Charles Bell manager of Greer-Wilkinson lumber yards in Denver underwent a delicate operation Saturday morning for a chronic rectal ailment. Attending Dr. Waymire called Drs Spooner and Line to assist. the procedure by Dr Spooner was successful. Bell rallied quickly and aims for a speedy permanent recovery with J. H. Bush and gon in charge of the yard during illness.
A reader from Denver Indiana sends two dollars toward a Tribune subscription. He explains he cannot get along without the paper and has relied on it while away from home for years. He signs as George W Piper with best wishes.

The regular monthly meeting of the Methodist Ladies' Aid Society has been postponed from the stated Wednesday to Wednesday August first. Members are urged to remember the new date and be present.
Miss Gladys Benedict paid a social visit to Miss Helen Dawalt over the weekend, spending Saturday night and Sunday together.
On July 23 Jerome Jones suffered a stroke and lay unconscious by July 26. Jerome Jones died Sunday and a Jones funeral was held Tuesday at Skinner chapel with burial in the old cemetery. Community events include basket meetings at Skinner Chapel and a social at U B church with about ninety members present.
Contractors push road work on Flora road through Denver. By issue time, gaps will be closed and the road finished from the north end to the Vandalia railroad. Gravel used is of good grade and locals say the road is exceptionally good.
Invitations printed for the Kerschner and Butt family reunion to be held at Myers Grove north of Chili on Sunday August 8. Mrs Ed Pontius of Miami served as secretary and ordered the invitations while in Denver last Friday.
Trustee A CG Baldwin reports the Denver school house will get new furnaces. Old units were worn out and condemned. The Peninsula make furnaces are being installed by the Mexico Hardware Co. It is expected they will be among the lowest bidders when the job was sold.
A farmer sinks 1500 dollars in a financial matter and invites readers to learn how to bank by mail.
Schuyler Miller living south of Denver succeeded in stocking Eel river with small mouth bass. A shipment of minnows arrived and Miller and Mr. Jones of Peru released several thousand fish just above the Denver road bridge. The goal is future sport for fishermen.
C W Long and Son shipped six car loads of hogs from Denver Tuesday. The hogs were of good quality and priced near 7.50 per hundredweight. This was their largest single day shipment. Long said they could have shipped two more cars if possible. They plan to ship a car of cattle Thursday.
Mrs Cleve Staller was surprised by about twenty five Sunday school friends Monday evening in honor of her twenty ninth birthday. Refreshments of home made ice cream and cake were served and a very pleasant evening was enjoyed by all.
The Ss S C E of the Brethren church will hold a regular devotional meeting next Thursday August 5 at the church. All members are urged to attend.
The Murden family's annual reunion occurs on Thursday August 5 in Peru Indiana city park. Relatives from Denver and nearby areas are expected to attend.
Mr and Mrs Albert Bender stayed over Sunday with Rev William Bender and wife in Summittville Indiana. The visit was hosted by Albert Benders brother during a weekend gathering.
