An Oklahoma paper lampoons a troublesome town cow in Holdenville. The piece humorously describes the cow wandering at night, raiding gardens and beer, eluding capture, and prompting town residents to enlist a fence rail and other measures to deter it.
C BE Wright sells his Denver general merchandise stock and shop plus adjoining residence to Virgil W Sellars. In exchange Sellars receives 46 acres and 14 acres. Sellars assumes the store Monday and plans to move to town soon. Wright may sell the larger tract to Phillip Sullivan of Peru while continuing peddling goods for now.
The Jefferson township Democrats at a mass convention in Denver last Saturday nominated Albert Eikenberry of Denver for township trustee and W F Zartman of Mexico for township assessor. Albert Wilkenberry Walter Stowman and J L Neff were named for trustee. Zartman was nominated on the second ballot after four candidates for assessor declined to withdraw.
The Denver Lodge of Knights of Pythias held its annual decoration service Sunday at the M E church with Rev M A Harlan of Peru delivering the memorial address. After the sermon the lodge marched to the cemetery where flowers were laid on the graves of departed brothers.
The Baptist Church invites all ages from babies to octogenarians to Sunday worship on July 17 with Sunday school at 9 30 a m preaching at 10 30 a m and an evening service at 7 30 p m The morning sermon is The Children and the Church and the evening sermon Obeying the Heavenly Vision Pastor D W Sanprxs delivers the messages.
List of unclaimed letters dated July 7 1904 includes Mr Col Crawford Mr Henry Carroll and Mr Lewis Lain. If not picked up within 30 days the letters will be sent to the Dead Letter Office. W O Piper P M
Projected 40 by 40 foot two story addition to the Orphans' Home at Mexico to house 71 children. Estimated cost 2000 dollars funded by public subscriptions in surrounding counties, with J S Appleman and Aaron Fisher canvassing for support.
