Peru Youths Enjoy Lake Picnic After Travel Mix Up

A twelve member party from Peru arrived in Denver en route to Lukens Lake for the Fourth. Despite a transport mix up they rode a low speeder driven by Donald Musselman to a Rikenberry home to drink and rest then continued to the lake for a picnic and evening dancing. Social visits span several states this weekend

Mrs. Jacob Kistler of Logan sport spent Saturday to Monday evening in Denver as a guest of Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Shumate and little Helen. Mr. and Mrs. Earl McCoy of Peru visited Mrs. Emma Mc Coy from Saturday to Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Smith and children returned to Toledo Tuesday after a two week stay with Mr. Smith’s parents, George Smith and family.

Newells Host Summer Guests at Lake Manitau Cottage

Dr and Mrs J W Newell invite visitors from Washington and Decatur to spend two weeks at a Fairview Lake Manitau cottage. Dr Newell will shuttle to Denver for patient care while his family enjoys lake time. Clinton Eikenberry and son Herman join for the Independence holiday. Ladies Aid met at the Eikenberry home.

Two Denver youths reel in two big bass in Eel River

Russel Haines and Wayne Miller canoeing in the Eel River report two large bass leaping into their boat. The fish weighed one pound ten ounces and seventeen ounces respectively, with another bass reportedly jumping over the vessel. The catch was weighed at Ream's store to verify their claim.

Ream Brothers Buy Studebaker Car in Huntington

J A Ream and his brother Elmer bought a Studebaker in Huntington last week. They planned to drive home but the engine oil problem burned the engine. The car was towed to Denver for repairs after an in factory inspection.

Miss Harper Hill wed Herbert Worth Fillmore of Cincinnati at 5 pm in a garden church setting. Attendants wore pastel frocks, the bride carried Ephelia roses, and the ceremony featured a bridal chorus from Lohengrin. A reception followed in the Girls Federation parlors before a brief wedding trip.

Johnson Hayes Dead After Illness In Peru

Johnson Hayes died at his home in Peru after several years of illness. He had lived in West Denver for two years before selling his property and moving to Peru for his children's care. Funeral services are set for Friday at the Brethren Church in Mexico at 2 o clock, with Rev. Irvin Fisher officiating. burial in Greenlawn cemetery. His daughter Mrs. Charlies Powel resides near Woolley Town.

Denver and Peru pair buy Marion dye works

Roy Marley of Denver and John Hayes of Peru completed a purchase of the Eagle Cleaning & Dye Works in Marion Indiana last week. Marley resigned as Rural Route carrier and began running the business Thursday. Hayes, now with Mylet Bros in Peru, will move to Marion later as they plan to relocate once a suitable home is found.

Visiting Brother in Denver Visited by Billingsley Family
