Wright Crist Nuptials In Denver At Methodist Parsonage

Miss Lizzie Wright of Denver married Glen Crist of Wabash County at noon Saturday in the Denver Methodist parsonage with Rev. Montgomery officiating. Lizzie, daughter of J. R. Wright of Peru, will live with her uncle Chet Wright and Mrs Anna Martin until their future residence is decided. Crist, a machinist, is a son of Mr and Mrs Frank Crist and has worked for Service Truck Co. at Wabash. The couple will reside in Denver and later move with Lizzie’s family.

Dr Waymire Home From Three Thousand Mile Trip

After a month in Boston Dr and Mrs BE Waymire arrived home on July 3 after a 3000 mile round trip without an accident. The doctor said the Boston work will benefit his profession. Wayne Miller, formerly in Chicago, visited family then headed to Hartford to join Hartford Insurance Co. A Zook family excursion to Rochester included a hospital visit to Mrs So Doud and reports of her improving.

Golden Wedding in Peru and Denver Celebrates 50 Years

William Tharp and Minnie Cool wed fifty years ago at the Baptist parsonage in Peru. A 50th anniversary dinner in Peru was attended by relatives and 35 neighbors, with a later community meal at the Tharp home north of Denver. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. John Tharp and many Murphys, Lewis, Cunningham, Tharp, and Fouts families, plus sisters Mrs. Lou Williams and Mrs. Belle Coffey.

Visitors Tour Monticello Dam Power Plant

Mr and Mrs W W Sellers and Mr and Mrs L H Dice drove Sunday to Monticello to see the Tippecanoe river dam and power plant two miles north of town. They met Elvin Long and family at Spencer Park in Logansport. The dam stands about twenty feet high and will power four generators. A lake forms behind the dam and a hotel is planned upriver. Best route is Peru or Logansport on State Road 7 then two miles north.

Trustee Hood Enforces Fire Safety Remodel Notices

The Tribune clarifies Trustee D S Hood acted as a public officer following orders from the State Fire Marshal's Office in Indianapolis. A state survey deemed certain Denver buildings fire hazards, giving owners six months to remodel or vacate as needed. The move aims to improve town safety despite short-term hardship.

Haines Couple Plans Oregon and Utah Visit

Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Haines left Denver Monday for Oregon visiting Hammond and Chicago. They will travel via Denver Colorado Springs Salt Lake City The Dalles and attend the organ recital at the Mormon Temple and visit Mrs. Haines' parents Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Schlebig for several weeks.

Vera Harris Weds Milton Wilson in Mexico Methodist Church

Miss Vera June Harris and Milton W Wilson were married at six oclock Thursday evening in the Mexico Methodist Parsonage with Rev J W Trout officiating. Attendants were Mr and Mrs Harry Ednon of Peru. The bride wore grey canton crepe with matching hat and carried a roses bouquet. Harris is the daughter of Charles and Harris of Union township and a four year primary teacher. Wilson is son of Harmon and Mrs Wilson of Peru and a prominent Peru township farmer. They will reside in Peru township.

Funeral for Mrs Butt Held at Erie Home

The funeral of Mrs D M Butt was held Friday at 2 30 PM at her Erie township home. A large gathering of relatives and friends attended with strong representation from the Order of the Eastern Star and the Order of Rebekah. Rev G R Champlin of the U B Church in Erie officiated. Interment followed at Mt Hope cemetery.

Shower Honors Two New Mrs. Bryans and Mrs. Sarver

The W W G of the Baptist Church hosted a Tuesday evening shower at Mrs. Edgar Lewis home for two recently married women Mrs. Fred Bryan and Mrs. John Sarver. About twenty guests attended featuring games, music, and refreshments. The brides received many gifts.

Trustees to Meet July 7 to Discuss Institute Plans

The fourteen Miami county township trustees will meet in regular session at the county superintendent's office in the courthouse. They will set dates for the county institute to be held at the Peru high school in August. The institute will adopt a chautauqua plan with Grant Huntington and Pulaski counties.

Denver and Peru Factories Close for Week of Repairs

Denver basket factories and the Redman plant in Peru are closed this week for invoicing repairs and machinery replacements. Roan factory is also shut. The pause aims to prevent future shutdowns when business resumes in a few weeks.
