Illnesses report across Denver area

Reports from the bedside of Mrs. Emily Ferrow say she is weakening as relatives lose hope. John L. Dewald remains in critical condition, with recovery unlikely due to age and frailty. Don Trent is seriously ill at his South Denver home after falling ill in Rochester where he supervised the B. M. Way Store Co. Mrs. Thomas Cumberland is also seriously ill in South Denver.

A June 13 1920 letter from Decatur Illinois recounts Decoration Day in Denver with visits to comrades and old friends. The writer notes it took seven hours to clear and build the track before passing, then marching seven miles to Atwood for lunch. They reached Decatur at 8:13 after thirteen hours since starting, signing off with hopes of no relapse and regards to readers of the Denver Tribune.

Husband’s Meeting Draws Large Denver Crowd

Nearly two hundred people gathered on the lawn at Mr and Mrs Russell Longs South Denver Wednesday for the Ladies Aid Society Methodist Church Husband’s Meeting. The event featured Japanese lanterns flowers Denver Merchants Band games socializing a luncheon of hot wiener sandwiches doughnuts and coffee and extensive praise for organizers. It was the largest Aid gathering to date.

Concert Draws Big Crowd For Merchants Band

The Merchants Band’s second weekly concert drew a large audience with cars lining Main Street for miles to hear the performance under director E S Kline. Heavy expenses led to a suggested small donation, which raised $20 in minutes, prompting thanks and a reminder of concerts every Thursday at eight.

Two Good Services at Denver Methodist Church

Denver churchgoers enjoyed two fine services at the Methodist Church on Sunday. In the morning Rev. Columbus Hall of Franklin College preached a memory stirring sermon. In the evening Rev. Park gave an able address and an elderly man, Mr. Cate, requested admission to church membership as the service ended.
