A large passenger steamship, name not learned, wrecked on a reef in St. Marys Bay Newfoundland and caught fire. The two masted schooner of about 8000 tons carried a crew of around 60 and possibly passengers. An 11 year old Forsyth confesses to setting Monares elevator fire in Carrington North Carolina claiming he was paid by agent Sundahl to ignite the blaze. The incident ruined a wheat load and Sundahl is jailed on arson and embezzlement charges. The boy says he received 35 dollars and a bicycle and was in Fargo when the fire occurred.
A coal oil lamp exploded in the dining room of John Voghes at 023 Mountain Street Philadelphia. In the blaze the eldest son aged 10 and a baby six months old perished. The parents who were in the kitchen were unable to reach them and both sustained burns.
Four Kerrick children aged 7 to 15 were burned to death when a Little Falls, Minnesota house burned. The remains were buried in a single grave as they could not be identified.
