Lindsay California January 4 1918 Dated letter from S L Wolf now in Lindsay reports good health for Mrs Wolf and self, sale of Orange Grove, plans to stay through spring, two married sons Clyde and Ralph thriving in Lindsay, light orange crop but high prices, dry winter with frost and bloom despite no rain, thanks readers and includes $2 subscription payment.
A heavy snowstorm with high winds hit the region Friday night and Saturday. Temperatures fell to 20 degrees below zero while drifts six to eight feet piled along roads and rails. The Vandalia and L. E. and W. lines suffered major delays. towns face coal shortages and telegraph services were limited.
The fuel administration plans January 30 as Tag Your Shovel Day with school children tagging coal shovels nationwide. Each tag bears Save that shovelful of Coal for Uncle Sam, while the reverse offers coal saving tips as part of the wartime effort.

I C Brower purchased the 140 acre Saline farm of Mrs Maude E Saline in Richland township for 25000 dollars. The property sits just north of Denver and is known as the old Piper farm.
Mrs. Ida Fry of Denver sues Miami county Sheriff Charles Simons for $110 claiming money found in her stocking after arrest and jail in Peru was unlawfully detained. The suit, moved from Justice Farrar to Justice Matt, questions improper custody of valuables.

The Teachers' Institute planned for last Saturday in Peru was postponed because of severe cold weather and rescheduled for next Saturday January 19th.
