Pleasant Social at Epworth League Meeting

The Epworth League held its monthly business meeting at Dukes home on Monday evening. A large turnout of members and officers attended. Refreshments were served and all enjoyed a very pleasant evening despite the weather.

Banquet Honors Boys After BYPU Contest

Girls placed as losers in the BYPU event were entertained royally at a turkey banquet held Tuesday evening at the Baptist parsonage. A film program followed at the church with home members performing all acts except Mr Kader of Peru, Associated President of the BYPU. All reported a fine evening.

Deaths and Obituaries for Burkholder Schutzbaugh and Smith Families

Simon Burkholder born Ohio January 1 1855 died January 2 1909 at age 53 with wife Alice and daughter, two brothers and two sisters surviving. Ray Schutzbaugh of Perrysburg died of pneumonia aged 18 with funeral held Wednesday. other family members ill. Mrs Frank Smith of Chili died Monday night with funeral on Wednesday.

Funeral of Henry Overly at Baptist Church

The remains of Henry Overly who died at his Port Thursday home after a week with lockjaw were moved to Denver Monday and taken to his sister Mrs Derek s home. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at one o clock in the Baptist church at North Manchester conducted by Rev Sanders. Mr Overly was well known in the community and once served as trustee of Jefferson township. A wife and daughter survive him.
