A fragmentary notice describes a family gathering for Christmas day with Mrs Mary Berger and Miss Ethel Berger, guests of Mrs and Mr Lantz and family. It mentions Jacob Stanton Ithias and Isene Lantz among those entertained and lists friends at the holiday event.
Two Miami County educators plan to quit after the holidays. Scudder Wilson of Macy schools teaching grades 4 5 and 6 will retire without stated reason. Harry C Wesner of Union school in Jefferson township also resigns and has been named postmaster in Washington county. No replacements are yet named for either school.
The group working to incorporate the town has begun a petition to secure signers for presentation to the county commissioners at the January session. They report excellent progress and expect to exceed the necessary number of names.
Union Township Farmers Institute gathers at United Brethren Church Deedsville with morning session at ten and afternoon session at one. Dinner served by Ladies Aid Society.
The Baptist Missionary Society will meet at Mrs Josie Lewiss home next Thursday January 8. Mrs Berth Bell, Sec. Mr and Mrs Pyle and children visited Peru for Christmas with his mother. Harry Eikenberry of Frankfort spent the past week with his parents in Denver. John Garrison and family were in Logansport for Christmas Day. Miss Gladys Bell stayed with sisters Mrs Sam Kinzie and Mrs Clayson in Peru. Newton Bells family entertained Kinsey and Kinsey daughter Alma Floyd Bell and Miss Tressa Cornell for Christmas dinner.
Ohma Olive Smith and Guy O Blenis married at nine o'clock in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Smith. Rev. J B Cook officiated before close relatives. The bride wore flaxen lace with light blue satin. luncheon followed, then dinner. The couple plan to set up housekeeping in east Denver with many well wishers present.

Mrs Hamilton Mohler of Near Gilead won in a local drawing during the millikan drug event. Glenn Smith and Donald Museel participated, with prizes announced as part of the Dal Bson DzNver celebration.

Fire at the Deedsville sawmill owned by Mrs. Lewis K. Kin d, occurred Saturday about 1 30 am. Fifteen thousand feet of lumber worth three to four thousand dollars burned. A tramp seeking refuge in the barn is suspected to have caused the fire. Much lumber belonged to the Bunker Hill Lumber Co which also burned on
At Bakers Store drawing on Saturday afternoon Lyman Bond held the first prize winning number for the automobile. The number 612 drew the second prize but no claimant appeared. If the holder does not claim by seven o'clock next Saturday, a second drawing will occur at eight o'clock.
Fred Miller and Edith Wright of Tiosa were married by Pastor L. G. Wood at noon last Saturday in the Brethren Church parsonage. The bride was accompanied by her sister Miss Edna Wright. both are respected young people of Tiosa.

Charles C. Hays of Peru and Miss Hattie Gray of Glades Springs Va wed at the Baptist parsonage Bristol on Wednesday December 17. The 80 year old pastor R H Burroughs performed the ceremony and will have officiated on the 4,499th marriage of his 24 year ministry. The bride a Roanoke College graduate is daughter of O L Gray a N and W conductor. The groom plans to make Peru their home. The wedding remains a surprise to many.
James Yike fourteen son of Mr and Mrs James Yike of 594 East Main Street Peru was killed by an accidental shotgun discharge. Robert Tillett son of Judge and Mrs J N Tillett of Peru fired the gun while the two youths hunted on Rettig Road near Workings farm two miles northeast of Peru. The accident occurred at 3 o clock Saturday afternoon and the body was taken to Hammond Murphy parlors.
