Boy Scout organization forms as sixteen boys join group

A proposed Boy Scout troop gathered at A. P. Guise's home last Saturday afternoon with sixteen boys attending to learn scouting principles. Kline McGuire of Mexico Dead After Illness

Kline Allen McGuire 27, son of Charles and Carrie McGuire, died in Mexico after a two month tuberculosis illness. Survived by father, four brothers, three sisters, stepmother Ruth McGuire, and numerous relatives. Born April 25, 1894 in Mexico, he was a local butcher. Funeral at Church of the Brethren conducted by Rev. Appleman. burial in Greenlawn Cemetery.

News from Indianapolis reports Mrs. A. J. Long recovering well after an operation at Methodist Hospital last Thursday. She has passed the crisis and, barring unforeseen trouble, is expected to regain health soon, prompting joy among relatives and friends.

Basketball Tournament Set For Peru Community Building

A county high schools basketball tournament will be held at the new Peru community building on Friday and Saturday February 24 and 25. Games feature Chili against Converse Mexico against Amboy Bunker Hill versus Peru Butler versus Deeds Macy against the Friday night winner and subsequent winners on Saturday with evening finals. Season tickets cost 73 cents and are available for what is billed as a rare bargain.

A C Thomas Dead In Marion Indiana

Denver reports the death of A C Thomas at his Marion Indiana home 501 First Street. He was well known in Denver and visited with Dr J H Millikan and family, now bereaved as Mrs Millikan and daughters remain with Mr and Mrs Thomas. Mrs Thomas had died earlier and the Millikans lived with the Thomas family.

Barber Fred Landis suffers stroke of paralysis

Fred Landis a barber at J M Boyd shop corner Third street and Broadway suffered a stroke of paralysis affecting his left side Monday while at the shop. He was talking with friends when he grew speechless and a physician treated him and had him removed to his East Third street home. His condition is not considered serious and recovery is expected. Landis is husband of Mrs Landis a recent city clerk candidate.
