John Wesley Stuber Dies of Cancer at 55

John Wesley Stuber, 55, a well known Perry township farmer, died at 8 a.m. Wednesday at Dukes Memorial Hospital Peru after being stricken at home northeast of Ebenezer church. He is survived by his widow Flora Edith Cunningham Stuber and many children, plus three brothers and a sister. Funeral arrangements had not been announced.

Mrs Louisa Griswold Dead In Mexico Home

Mrs Louisa Griswold widow of Daniel Griswold died at the family home in Mexico Sunday at 12:30 PM after two years of illness due to heart trouble. Born Cass County May 2 1836 she was 86 years 10 months 9 days. Surviving are John and Cassius of Mexico George of Peru Edward and Emma of Mexico and May Flora of Elkhart. Funeral Tuesday at 2:30 PM at the Methodist church in Mexico with Rev C F Davidson of Rochester assisted by Rev Irvin Fisher and Rev Trout. Burial Greenlawn Cemetery.

May Form Poultry Organization in Peru

A meeting of poultry keepers led to the formation of the Miami County Poultry Association to be incorporated. It will be governed by a seven member board including Mrs. DeWalt, Frank Daniels, Mrs. Carroll Liverman, Mrs. Omar Flora, George Wigner, and FE Weiner. Stock offering set at 5000 dollars in 1000 shares of five dollars each. Next meeting at the Court House on March 3 at 1 30 pm with aim of large attendance.

Mack Moon died at his daughter Mrs William L Cheesman’s home on East Sixth Street Peru at 4 30 a m Monday age 68 survived by two daughters The funeral was at First Baptist Church Peru with Rev S D Haff officiating Burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery He suffered injuries in a collision two weeks earlier between his car and a delivery truck driven by Donald Reed Moon had ribs leg lung injury and heart complications from the shock and had lived in Peru and Miami county for years as a cattle buyer and church member

Peru High School hosts county basketball tournament

High School teams from the county compete Friday and Saturday at Peru High School Gym to crown the best team. Schedule includes Chili vs Deedsville, Macy vs Mexico, Butler vs Gilead with morning and afternoon sessions and a weekend finish at 9 30 p m. Richland Township Farmers Institute Program at Chili Church

The Richland Township Farmers Institute will meet at the Chili Baptist Church on February 16 with a morning session at 10:00. Program includes songs, invocations, addresses on Our Community and Marketing Farm Products, committee appointments, a noon dinner by Baptist Ladies, and an afternoon session featuring The Duty of the 20th Century Woman and Profitable Recreation. Aaron Lantz Dead in Minneapolis at Sixty

Aaron Lantz aged about sixty died suddenly in Minneapolis Minnesota on Wednesday. Telegram received by relatives stated the cause was not learned. He was a brother of George B Lantz of Peru and of Mrs Mary Sullivan of Union Township widow of P S Sullivan Elm The Denver and John Lantz of Indianapolis. He was a single man and a native of the county.

Mexico merchant suffers auto mishap in Hiner hills

John Elder of Mexico, a restaurant and store keeper, drove a Ford truck into a ditch on a slippery cement road north of Peru. The vehicle did not tip, but its cargo of candies, peanuts and cigars was scattered in the bed as the truck rested on a steep embankment.

Denver Real Estate Swaps Include Meat Market Sale

Over the past week J R Wright closed a Denver deal selling his residence along with the meat market slaughter house and ice house to O S Warner near Perrysburg. In return Wright will receive a dwelling and a block of lots on Blair Pike in northwest Peru. Warner's possession timeline for the Denver Meat Market remains undecided. Henry Donald sold his South Denver residence to Mrs Maude Saline of South Bend and she may build adjoining dwellings, boosting Denver housing. Donald and family plan to move to his Ebenezer area farm. Mrs Elizabeth Friend sold her East Harrison Street cottage to Mrs Kate Stowman near Mexico with possession by April 1.

Place family relocates housing as Dora Place plans new bungalow
