Jefferson Township Farmers Institute at Mexico

Arrangements for the annual Jefferson Township Farmers Institute are complete for the event at the Mexico Methodist Church on Saturday February 19. Officers are Irvin Fisher president Charles BalsSpiugh vice president and Harry Miller secretary. Speakers Mrs Eva Rohboek and Prof Widney of Purdue University will discuss alfalfa on every farm with a stereopticon lecture by E B Wetherow. Miss Charlotte Straszer will speak on health. Dinner will be served by the Mexico M E Ladies Aid.

Mrs Anna Martin Seriously Ill at Home

Mrs Anna Martin, sick for days, first with la grippe then kidney trouble, is very seriously ill at her home on West Harrison Street. Her sister Mrs Charles Piper of Indianapolis and Dr Newell are attending, with relatives hopeful for a recovery.

Edward E Walser 1891 1916 Obituary

Edward Ernest Walser, son of Charles E and Alice Walser, born July 12 1891, died January 21 1916 at his father’s home near Perrysburg at age 24 years 6 months 9 days. He joined Perrysburg Baptist Church in February 1915 and was faithful in attendance. He was retiring and mourned by his mother sister brothers and a host of friends, now gone to be with the departed.

Chili Union Revival Opens With Strong Attendance

Revival meetings in Chili began Monday night with good turnout. Rev. Banks delivered a fine sermon as a large chorus grows and an orchestra from local talent aids the music. Rev. Jacobs leads the chorus as Sunbeam Choir prepares special numbers for upcoming nights. Friday is Chili School night with surrounding communities expected to send delegations. Denver plans to attend in a later week. Meeting time moved from 7 30 to 7 00 to fit car line riders. All are welcome.

Baptist Ladies Missionary Society Meeting Report

The Baptist Ladies Missionary Society held a February 3 gathering at Mrs. Cornelius Bell's home with eleven members present. Mrs. Gloyd led due to the absence of the president and vice president, presenting a program on non Christian lands and church self sufficiency and tithing. The March meeting will be hosted by Mrs. F K Baker with the topic Some Builders of the King’s Highway.

Fourth Quarterly Conference Held Here Saturday Denver

The Fourth Quarterly Conference of the Denver Charge, M. E. Church, met in the Denver church last Saturday morning. Attendance was light but reports were generally favorable with a full slate of officers and steady progress noted despite reduced participation.

Ladies Aid Society to Hold Mixed Sale and Market

The Ladies Aid Society of the Denver M. E. Church plans a Miscellaneous Sale and Market at Donaldson's Drug Store in Denver on Saturday February 26. The event will feature apparel home kitchen supplies and various goods to eat with other items and promises exceptional value. Watch for further particulars in next week’s paper.

Mrs Elbert Kline of East Harrison Street has been seriously ill for several days after a sudden onset last Saturday. Doctors were away when she first fell ill and medical aid arrived only after Dr Waymire returned. Her daughter Mrs George Rhineberger of Peru has come home to be with her.

Arnold Seeks Democratic Nomination for Prosecuting Attorney

Leroy O. Arnold of Converse is announced in this issue as a candidate for the Democratic nomination for Prosecuting Attorney, subject to the coming primary. Arnold has practiced law in Converse for years and has wide acquaintance in Miami County, described as an active citizen who would be a conscientious official if elected.
