Improvements on a Large Scale on Lake Erie line
The Lake Erie railroad plans major ballast work next summer on the north end, re graving 62 of 87 miles between this city and Michigan City. 3,700 rodger ballast car loads equal 95,000 cubic yards of gravel from a Denver pit, with about three trains daily. Roadmaster Correll inspected the Denver pit as work resumes when weather allows. The south end was ballasted last summer and the entire roadbed should be in first class condition upon completion.

Biggest Ever Fox Drive Draws Two Thousand In Miami County
A large crowd witnessed the Jefferson and union Fox Drive near Weasaw church where four foxes contested the ring. Two were captured alive, one escaped, and the largest fox sold for 10.25. Local events included races and pie contests with donations aiding Denver Baptist church. Mercer was fined for an offense during the escape incident. Dr Redman paid 1.50. Trustee Woolley attended county board meetings and local jeweler bargains were noted.
