Deedsville land sale closes for Jacob Norris Jr and Arthur Brown

A deed closing occurred last Wednesday when Jacob Norris Jr sold his twenty acre farm three miles northwest of Deedsville to Arthur Brown of Mud Lake. Box Social Proves Profitable for Fire Trustees

The Box Social and Oyster Sup per hosted by the Fire Company trustees last Thursday evening drew a large crowd in Grimes' building. Twenty two boxes sold, top prices $2.50 for a single box and $3.50 for a double box. Receipts totaled $48.50 with expenses of $2.35, leaving net profits of $46.15 to be applied to debt for the new engine house. The trustees report remaining debt about $100 on the new engine house and fixtures.

Horse Killed Near Denver in Accident

John Zartman of Mexico lost a fine three year old horse Sunday evening. While driving about a mile north of Denver the harness loosened, the horse panicked and began to run. Zartman and Miss Stuber were thrown from the buggy but uninjured. The horse died after being taken to Ott Murph's barn.

Pleasant Social Event For Brethren Sunday School Girls

Last Saturday evening at a South Denver home Miss Alma Dukes entertained about twenty one young ladies from the Brethren Baptist and Methodist Sunday School classes. Contests and a wish bone hunt provided entertainment. Prizes went to Miss Oliivia Smith Lucy Lindersmith Gayle Stowman Edith Ferrow and Mary Alderfer. Dainty refreshments were served.
