Levi Armantrout and wife hosted Mr and Mrs Omer Heldre of Peru on Thursday. Mr and Mrs WG Shumate entertained Mrs Martha R. Bins, daughter Mrs John Helmied, and son Maynard on Tuesday.
The Denver school column reviews Sophomores who have tackled Geometry with mixed results as photos of the group fail to meet expectations. Ruth Myon is absent sick, Gordon Grimes misses days after a fire, and Mr. Waggoner spent Thanksgiving at home. The piece notes improving attendance and grade gains, praises Miss Anderson’s pupils, and mentions Mr. Baldwin’s strong averages along with Mr. Dice’s manuscript returns.
Several residents visited relatives and traveled this week. Aaron Zook was in Peru on Saturday, while George Lee made a business trip there on Friday. Claud Sullivan of Indianapolis stayed with PS Sullivan and his wife last week. Anson Williams and family visited Lew Marburger’s household on Sunday. Miss Hannah Donald and Mrs. Dine Wites joined Mrs. Mary Berger last Wednesday. Clara Leedy and children from Peru spent Thanksgiving with John Lee and his wife. Emma Zook and Donald’s family spent Thanksgiving with her brother William Delp and family in Rochester. Ream and his wife visited Perry on Thursday, while Mrs. Clara Smith of Perry stayed with her sister Emma for a few days. Jacob Stanton and Abe Mobier with wives attended Thacks in Stanton. Joe Dillmad and wife and Mrs.
William Berger and family of Gilead with Aaron Berger and family and Mrs Mary Moore and her son spent Sunday with Mrs Mary Berger. William Grimes had his old barn torn down and moved to his Denver home where he will rebuild it as a corn crib and wagon shed.
Quick work follows a fire at Ira Newell's Livery Barn and TV shop. C F Pite and Isaac Fisher were paid in full by check. Walter Bond family and Miss Fannie Walters hosted guests. H A Rest and Jeanette Rest visited Roy Rest in Kokomo. Emanuel Yoder and George Staller were in Perrysburg. Police sale notices appear elsewhere in this issue.
A mute named Eva Zartman enjoyed a surprise Thanksgiving visit at sister Mrs Dawalt near Denver. Organized by Peru resident Anna Dangerfield, guests arrived by ten o clock train and provided a day of social chatting and a sumptuous dinner before returning to Peru on the evening train. Attendees included Mr and Mrs James Wray, Mr and Mrs Edward Moss, Mr and Mrs Albert Dawalt and family, Mrs Bruce Ogle and children, Mahala and Maude Runkle, and Mr and Mrs Clarence Turnipseed.
