Mrs. Margarett L. Whisler of Chili, Indiana, died Aug 23 1900 after shooting herself in the head while in poor health. Wife of William H Whisler and mother of two daughters, she joined Olive Branch church in 1879 and was active in the community and L O T M. lodge. Funeral services in Chili Baptist Church drew a large crowd.

The town records the death of Ines Jingle aged 15 born August 26 1900. She sickened with typhoid fever which developed into blood poisoning. A Methodist church baptism was July 27 1900 and she lived at her home north of morning. The obituary recalls her weary days and hopeful farewell, a long sweet life cut short.
